Photographer: Ilias Liakos

I am a civil engineer. In parallel with my studies, I was involved in the construction of handmade musical instruments, studying the durability of wood and its acoustics. For years, I was captivated by the craftsmanship, the smell of wood, its carving. But even more, I was captivated by the realization that imagination, dedication, sensitivity and love give, unexpectedly, better results than documented studies.

My mother, a photographer. The subjectivity of the image preoccupied me since I was a little child, but without being able to express it. From the bright light of the photo studio to the absolute darkness of the darkroom, something great was happening, something magical for a little child. Growing up, I studied it, explained it, documented it, but I preferred to keep the magical process of an image in this case too. The process by which each image creates a projection in the soul and a part of yourself that you never knew is reflected in front of you.
