Mark Bowen - Adventure Awaits
Mark is a landscape and wildlife photographer located in the stunning Canadian Coastal Mountains. His gallery in Vancouver presents a unique perspective on the natural world, characterized by a minimalist and vibrant aesthetic.
Mark has extensively explored the forests, mountains and oceans of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Yukon, Alaska, and Washington State as well as Europe and Iceland. He has documented a diverse array of wildlife in these regions and the Arctic.
His experiences include close encounters with grizzly bears, glaciers, ice walls, and volcanoes, as well as adventurous activities such as cliff hanging and aerial explorations of some of the world's renowned peaks. Due to the dangerous and fast fleeting conditions in aircraft, boats or in extreme weather, Mark often shoots in less than ideal conditions. Mark sometimes shoots quickly and shoots with a sports photographers viewpoint. What is in front of the camera may be gone in half a second or less. He believes in responding and getting the capture and then if time allows becoming a perfectionist with settings. What he shoots does not always allow for hours of planning and setting up a levelled tripod.
Mark is a recipient of many nature and landscape photography awards, Mark has been nominated as a leading nature photographer in international competitions. He also creates paintings inspired by his photographic work.
