Photographer: Martin Dee

I’ve spent over 3 decades as a corporate and editorial photographer in Vancouver, Canada. But since my late teens, I’ve always endeavored to work on personal projects on the side that lean toward abstract fine art photography and painting. In 2017, I began a journey of experimental photography using a technique known as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). Today, I continue to explore the possibilities of creating images by deliberately moving the camera using a slow shutter speed to achieve an impressionistic view of the world. I employ this technique to achieve the blurred (and painterly) effect in camera and do not further manipulate the images in post-production other than to adjust and/or enhance a photograph’s colour, tone, and contrast to best convey the mood that I felt when I took the photograph.
