Kate discovered photography as a 13 year-old girl at summer camp, choosing a Nikon F over a palomino pony. It was the alchemy of the darkroom and it’s limitless possibilities that captivated her most and started the artistic journey that still influences her visual vocabulary today. Kate’s fascination with the whole of the photographic process shows in her meticulous pre-shoot planning of every detail, intricate lighting, innovative style, manipulation of color, composition and individual elements right through final post-production.

Among Kate's major influences have been her deep love of painting in all its forms from the Old Masters to Pop Surrealism and the works of Joseph Campbell and his idea of The Hero. She looks to incite a transformational moment in directing her subjects, and strives to magnify the larger than life aspects whenever directing motion or creating individual images. She is a hands-on creator and a fantastic collaborator with a great sense of humor; and believes that visual artists have a huge responsibility to create positive symbols that carry our human spirit forward.
